About the Position
Introduction
As a Data Scientist at Meta, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of both people-facing and business-facing products across our entire suite of applications, including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Oculus. Leveraging your technical skills, analytical mindset, and product intuition, you will work with vast datasets to define user experiences for billions globally. You will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams in Product, Engineering, Research, Data Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Finance to address diverse product and business challenges. Your work will involve using data and analysis to solve critical product development issues, influencing product strategy and investment decisions, and contributing to a world-class analytics community dedicated to skill development and career growth.
Your role will involve:
- Product leadership: Using data to guide product development, quantify new opportunities, identify challenges, and ensure products deliver value. You will assist partner teams in prioritization, goal setting, and understanding product ecosystems.
- Analytics: Guiding teams with data and insights, developing hypotheses, and employing a range of rigorous analytical, methodological, and technical approaches for testing.
- Communication and influence: Crafting data-driven narratives to convince and influence partners with clear insights and recommendations, building credibility through structured and clear communication, and acting as a trusted strategic partner.
Responsibilities
- Work with large and complex data sets to solve challenging problems using various analytical and statistical approaches.
- Apply technical expertise in quantitative analysis, experimentation, data mining, and data presentation to develop product strategies serving billions of people and businesses.
- Identify and measure product success through goal setting, forecasting, and monitoring key product metrics to understand trends.
- Define, understand, and test opportunities for product improvement, driving roadmaps with insights and recommendations.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to inform, influence, support, and execute product strategy and investment decisions.
Requirements
- Currently holds or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. The degree must be completed before joining Meta.
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, a relevant technical field, or equivalent.
- 2+ years of work experience in analytics and data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), and/or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R).
- 2+ years of experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches, understanding ecosystems, user behaviors & long-term product trends, and leading data-driven projects from definition to execution (including defining metrics, experiment design, and communicating actionable insights).
Nice to Have
- Master's or Ph.D. Degree in a quantitative field.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements).
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews).
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies.
Benefits
- Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
- Base salary range $119,000 - $173,000 per year.
