About the Position
Introduction
As a Data Scientist at Meta, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our people-facing and business-facing products across our family of applications, including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Oculus. By leveraging your technical skills, analytical mindset, and product intuition, you will contribute to defining experiences for billions of people and hundreds of millions of businesses worldwide. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners in Product, Engineering, Research, Data Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Finance to address a wide array of product and business challenges. Your work will involve using data and analysis to identify and solve critical product development issues, influencing product strategy and investment decisions, and ensuring impactful outcomes. Responsibilities
- Work with large and complex datasets to solve challenging problems using diverse analytical and statistical approaches.
- Apply technical expertise in quantitative analysis, experimentation, data mining, and data presentation to develop product strategies for billions of users and millions of businesses.
- Identify and measure the success of product initiatives through goal setting, forecasting, and monitoring key product metrics to understand trends.
- Define, understand, and test opportunities to improve the product, driving roadmaps with insights and recommendations.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to inform, influence, support, and execute product strategy and investment decisions.
Requirements
- Currently holds, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
- 2+ years of work experience in analytics and data querying languages (e.g., SQL).
- 2+ years of experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) and/or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R).
- 2+ years of experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches, understanding ecosystems, user behaviors, and long-term product trends.
- Experience leading data-driven projects from definition to execution, including defining metrics, experiment design, and communicating actionable insights.
Nice to Have
- Master's or Ph.D. Degree in a quantitative field.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements).
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews).
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies.
