Introduction

Sopra Steria is looking for an innovative and experienced Data Scientist specialized in Large Language Models (LLMs) to strengthen our dynamic team in Nieuwegein, Netherlands. In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing and implementing advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) solutions, bridging new technologies with concrete business needs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement advanced machine learning models, with a focus on LLMs and NLP applications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex business problems data-driven.
• Research state-of-the-art LLM techniques and contribute to the development of new algorithms.
• Prepare large textual datasets and engineer features for NLP tasks.
• Optimize and implement machine learning models in production environments.
• Mentor junior team members and provide technical support for NLP and LLM projects.
• Stay updated on the latest developments in LLMs and GenAI, and share insights with the team and clients.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our data science processes and methodologies.

Requirements

• Master's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
• Mid-level: 3+ years / Senior: 5+ years of experience delivering production-ready data science solutions in a commercial or public environment, with a strong focus on NLP and LLMs.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and experience writing production-ready code.
• Thorough knowledge of LLMs and embeddings (such as GPT, BERT) and their applications.
• Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience with NLP-specific tools and libraries (e.g., LangChain, HuggingFace, spaCy).
• Proficient in working with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Helm, Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of CI/CD practices and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Demonstrable experience with data preprocessing and feature engineering for NLP tasks.
• Knowledge of model optimization techniques and deployment strategies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a constructive approach to challenges.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Fluent in Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing at a professional level.
• Passion for continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and leading the rapidly evolving data science field.
• Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).

• Gross monthly salary between €4,000 – €6,000 (based on 40 hours per week) + 8% profit sharing (or fixed OTB amount).
