    About the Position

    Introduction

Dataiku is seeking a Data Engineer I to join their Enterprise Data and Analytics (EDA) team. This role is crucial for delivering data to various stakeholders for analytics and data-driven insights. You will contribute to a data platform that supports centralized analytics, embedded analytics teams, Generative AI engineering, and self-service users.

The role is split between 50% Data Operations, Support & Troubleshooting, and 50% new development, primarily within a data platform built on Snowflake, Dataiku, and GitHub. Development will focus on Python, SQL, DataOps processes (GitHub Actions & Dataiku), and platform processes (Snowflake & Dataiku). Strong non-technical skills, curiosity, communication, and a collaborative mindset are highly valued. This is an internal, non-client-facing position.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop engineering expertise within the Dataiku Platform for system integrations, platform automations, and configurations.
    • Develop engineering expertise within Snowflake for data engineering, security, and governance features.
    • Build and maintain Python and SQL data replication and data pipelines for large, complex datasets.
    • Build and maintain data quality metrics and observability to ensure high data quality standards.
    • Learn existing data platform, data engineering, and data governance systems and processes.
    • Troubleshoot data pipelines, platform automations, and data access systems.
    • Address community questions and challenges.
    • Own, maintain, and enhance data operation processes, monitoring, and data quality systems.
    • Design scalable data models for both short-term and long-term use cases.
    • Build and maintain administration systems and applications for monitoring, alerting, data observability, access management, platform metrics, and end-user transparency.
    • Identify opportunities for improvements and optimization to enhance scalability and delivery velocity.
    • Collaborate with Analytics Engineers to provide data and data models for analytical deliverables.
    • Perform root cause analysis on complex errors to ensure data pipeline availability.
    • Test new features in Dataiku and partner tools, providing internal feedback and assessing value for analytics and platform integration.
    • Work closely with stakeholders across Infra, embedded analytics teams, Product, and Engineering for technical implementations and requirements gathering.
    • Proactively drive innovation with ideas for platform and process improvements.
    • Contribute to the ongoing documentation of internal systems and processes.

    Requirements

    • 2+ years of relevant experience in Data Engineering / Data Platform Engineering.
    • Strong technical skills in SQL and Python are essential.
    • Experience in building data models.
    • Prior experience building and maintaining replication and data pipelines in a cloud data warehouse or data lake environment.
    • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills; confidence to ask questions, share ideas, and challenge the norm.
    • Passion for continuous learning and teaching new technologies and implementation strategies.
    • Experience working with complex stakeholders, dissecting vague requests, and defining tangible requirements.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and time constraints simultaneously in a high-trust remote environment.
    • Ability to adapt to different project roles with a focus on achieving goals and inspiring colleagues.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (especially with senior-level stakeholders), capable of discussing business value, data products, and technical capabilities. Ability to create clear and concise documentation with high precision.

    Nice to Have

    • Experience in Dataiku DSS is a big plus.
    • Prior experience with Snowflake.
    • Prior experience with DevOps technologies such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
