Introduction

Alchemy is seeking a skilled Data Analytics Engineer to join our team in New York. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of how internal company data is consumed and actioned by AI. You will be responsible for designing and building clean, trusted datasets that power our AI tooling and ensure every team, from Finance to Product, can make decisions from a single source of truth. This is an exciting opportunity to explore innovative technologies like MCP to unlock self-serve AI data access and prepare our data infrastructure for future AI capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain canonical data models in Snowflake, serving as Alchemy's company-wide source of truth, ensuring they are clean, queryable, and AI-ready.
• Structure datasets for optimal performance with vendor AI tools, focusing on consistent schemas, rich semantics, and well-indexed access patterns.
• Explore and prototype innovative MCP (Machine Comprehension & Planning) integrations to enable conversational data querying for internal teams.
• Proactively eliminate shadow tables and one-off datasets by providing platform-level data solutions, empowering data science teams to operate more efficiently.
• Own the data transformation layer (dbt), implementing rigorous testing and validation processes to ensure data integrity and trust for all downstream consumers, human or AI.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering with strong proficiency in SQL and deep expertise in Snowflake.
• Proven experience in designing efficient, scalable analytical data models.
• Proficiency with dbt or comparable data transformation frameworks.
• Strong data quality instincts and a track record of building robust data infrastructure that enables and unblocks teams.
• Demonstrated good judgment, including effective scoping of projects, ruthless prioritization, and clear communication of tradeoffs.
• Experience working in a startup environment is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Web3 data analytics or blockchain data structures.
• Experience with various AI/ML data preparation techniques.
