Introduction

Are you a mission-driven attorney with a passion for blockchain technology and a desire to promote equitable access to the global financial system? The Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) is seeking a versatile Corporate and Regulatory Counsel to join its growing legal team. In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining the Foundation's corporate integrity while navigating the complex regulatory landscape of digital assets, stablecoins, and decentralized finance. You will work at the cutting edge of law, technology, and financial inclusion, ensuring SDF remains a compliant and influential leader in the global blockchain ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Corporate Governance & Entity Management:
  • Oversee the legal lifecycle of the Foundation and its subsidiaries, ensuring all corporate filings, registrations, and "good standing" requirements are met across all operating jurisdictions.
  • Maintain official corporate records and serve as an internal governance resource.
• Regulatory Strategy & Advice:
  • Act as an internal subject matter expert on the evolving global legal status of blockchain, tokenization, digital assets, and decentralized finance.
  • Provide high-level legal interpretations of new guidance, rules, and legislation impacting the Stellar ecosystem’s long-term viability.
  • Track and analyze litigation and enforcement actions within the broader blockchain industry to identify emerging legal risks or shifts in "Control" and "Decentralization" definitions.

Requirements

• J.D. degree and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• 5+ years of legal practice experience, with a focus on corporate and regulatory matters, and familiarity with areas of law relevant to blockchain.
• In-house experience at a crypto company, a top-tier law firm, or a major financial institution is highly desirable.
• Strong motivation by blockchain technology and a desire to promote financial access, aligning with SDF’s non-profit mission.
• Ability to remain confident and adaptable in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving legal and technological environment.

Nice to Have

• Basic familiarity with cryptocurrency, including owning crypto, using a wallet, and navigating DeFi protocols.
• A strong sense of humor.
