Compliance Associate

Introduction

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Compliance Associate to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring Bitso adheres to all regulatory requirements and maintains the highest standards of compliance within the crypto and financial services industry.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely responses to information requests from local authorities and supervisors regarding customer data and compliance reviews.
• Conduct thorough investigations into compliance matters and identify patterns of unusual or suspicious activities.
• Analyze customer data comprehensively to prepare cases for discussion with the Compliance Committee (CCC).
• Identify and escalate emerging trends or relevant control issues to AML Senior Management.
• Verify customer information and conduct Due Diligence Reviews in line with AML policy.
• Collaborate with the Customer Support team to resolve critical customer queries related to compliance.
• Align AML policies and procedures with local regulations and international standards.
• Assist the Head of Compliance Mexico in reviewing escalations related to Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) and potential Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
• Provide support during internal, external, and regulatory audits.
• Actively assist the Compliance team in various projects.

Requirements

• Experience: 2-3 years of professional experience in Compliance Standards and AML/CFT regulation within financial services. Experience in the crypto industry is desired.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Management, Law, or Social Sciences.
• Analytical Skills: Strong ability to conduct in-depth investigations, research, and perform pattern recognition for unusual or suspicious activities.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of local AML regulations and international standards, including AML/CFT Regulations and Best Practices.
• PEPs Knowledge: Familiarity with PEPs and the necessary documentation/information for designation.
• Language Skills: Strong communication skills to synthesize, visualize, and communicate ideas effectively in both English and Spanish.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in a FinTech or cryptocurrency environment.
• Certifications in AML or Compliance.
