Card Operations Manager

Introduction

Rain is seeking an operationally minded, detail-oriented Card Operations Manager to own the workflows and compliance requirements essential for scaling our physical card programs. This role is at the intersection of our internal teams, clients, card networks (e.g., Visa), and manufacturing partners, bridging product, engineering, and the real-world experience of every cardholder. This high-ownership position demands the ability to manage complexity across multiple programs simultaneously, bring structure to ambiguity, and act as a trusted strategic partner to clients and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Own physical card program operations end-to-end, working directly with card manufacturers, processors, payment networks, and key vendors to monitor performance, drive continuous improvement, and resolve escalations.
• Lead manufacturer implementations, partnering with the Head of Card Network Operations to onboard new manufacturers and expand functionality with existing ones to meet evolving program needs.
• Act as a strategic partner to clients, guiding them through card requirements, managing onboarding timelines for new card programs, and ensuring successful launches through rigorous project management.
• Manage end-to-end physical card billing operations and support reporting requirements from third-party vendors.
• Drive visibility and accountability by maintaining project trackers, running weekly vendor synchronization meetings, and delivering regular status reports to cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• 4–7 years of experience in card operations, payments operations, or a related fintech/financial services function.
• Deep familiarity with physical card issuance, card network rules (Visa, Mastercard), and card manufacturer relationships.
• Exceptional project management skills, capable of managing multiple concurrent initiatives effectively.
• Clear, confident communicator who can hold vendors accountable and guide clients with authority.
• Thrives in ambiguity, moves quickly, and can build processes where none exist.

• Experience working cross-functionally with engineering and product teams.
• Exposure to stablecoin or crypto-native card programs.
