Introduction

Are you ready to make a difference at the intersection of business and IT? Organizations are increasingly aiming for data-driven operations and AI integration. However, this often presents challenges due to fragmented data, misaligned processes, and a lack of clear problem definition. As a Business Analyst at Sopra Steria, you will step in when organizations face these bottlenecks, bringing structure to complexity and enabling progress.

Important: This is not a BI or data analyst role. You will not build dashboards or work with tools like Power BI or Tableau. The focus is on understanding information, structuring data, and translating it into IT solutions.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly understand the organization, its processes, and the underlying information domain.
• Map information flows and data concepts.
• Perform analyses (AS-IS/TO-BE, gap analyses).
• Identify improvement opportunities and guide solution development.
• Translate business needs into concrete IT solutions.
• Align with stakeholders and facilitate decision-making.
• Help clients realize their data and AI ambitions: refine use cases, identify prerequisites, and define a realistic implementation path.
• In many assignments, the problem is not sharply defined beforehand. You will be given a role description but will need to independently uncover and articulate the core of the issue. This requires autonomous analysis, decision-making, and continuous adjustment throughout the assignment.
• Work for large public and private organizations where information provision, digitalization, and data play a crucial role, from designing information chains to preparing AI applications.
• Collaborate closely with architects, developers, product owners, and business stakeholders.
• Actively contribute to developing knowledge around information provision, data foundations, and AI within the business and information analyst group.
• Experiment with AI tools to enhance analysis, documentation, and modeling, shaping the future of the profession.

Requirements

• Completed HBO or WO degree in an IT-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Technical Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Business IT & Management).
• 3 to 5 years of work experience within the IT domain, with at least 2 to 3 years in an analyst role (business analyst, information analyst, or functional designer), preferably in an IT-driven environment.
• Experience with analyzing issues and translating them into solutions within an IT landscape.
• Ability to recognize and structure the underlying question behind a request.
• Affinity with data, information flows, and the possibilities AI offers for both clients and the analyst profession itself.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage stakeholders.
• Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).

Nice to Have

• Experience with modeling techniques such as BPMN, UML, or ArchiMate.
• Experience in agile or DevOps environments.
• Ability to smoothly navigate between business stakeholders and IT teams.
• Capability to clearly explain complex issues to non-technical colleagues.
• Personal experience experimenting with AI tools in your work and having an opinion on what works and what doesn't.
