Introduction

Common Room is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join their team. This role involves building efficient, scalable, and reliable APIs and systems for their AI GTM Platform, which unifies buyer intelligence to empower sales and marketing teams.

Responsibilities

• Quickly learn about the product, business, and technology.
• Independently own and execute features, building APIs for other engineers.
• Ensure systems are efficient, scalable, and reliable.
• Maintain Common Room's core internal capabilities, infrastructure, and systems, staying ahead of product needs.
• Identify and participate in important company-building initiatives.
• Collaborate effectively with other experienced engineers, including application/front-end engineers.
• Make sound judgments on tradeoffs and tool selection, preferring stable technologies.
• Design simple, elegant solutions based on customer problems.
• Consider observability, SLA, and scalability while avoiding premature optimization.
• Manage time and priorities effectively.
• Demonstrate pride, ownership, and accountability in your work.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in software development.
• Ability to operate independently and seek support when needed.
• Passion for backend development and ownership of large projects.
• Familiarity with AWS, Postgres, and Node.js.
• Ability to provide candid and respectful feedback.

Nice to Have

• Experience with TypeScript.
• Experience with TypeGraphQL for API endpoints.
• Experience with Apollo/Express as a web server.
• Experience with Postgres hosted on RDS.
• Experience with React for front-end development.
