Introduction

Are you an experienced Backend Developer with leadership potential, eager to lead a team working on apps used daily by thousands of people? Do you want to contribute to the transformation of a platform everyone in the Netherlands has used at least once? Then this Backend Team Lead vacancy is for you!

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 4-6 Backend Developers working on a social platform.
• Act as the liaison between the development team and other departments.
• Ensure smooth development processes.
• Remain approximately 50% hands-on, programming core functionalities.
• Oversee the technical roadmap and platform architecture.
• Coach and mentor team members, conduct performance reviews, and foster their professional growth.
• Actively participate in recruiting new team members.
• Contribute to the continuous professionalization of the development department.
• Report directly to the Head of Development.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Backend Developer.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Lead Developer or Team Lead.
• Extensive experience with PHP and Symfony.
• HBO/WO (Dutch Bachelor's/Master's) level of thinking and working.
• Strong communication skills and a team player mindset.
• Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).

Nice to Have

• Experience with Docker and AWS.
• Experience with Microservices architecture.
