About the Position

Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to join a scaling digital product agency in Amsterdam. This hybrid role offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse digital products, combining feature development with reliability and DevOps responsibilities in AWS. You will be instrumental in building the foundational architecture for multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain high-quality backend services using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework.
Design, implement, and manage AWS infrastructure and services.
Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
Work closely with Frontend and Product teams to define and deliver new features.
Write comprehensive API specifications and technical documentation.
Participate in code reviews and advocate for best practices in software development.
Debug and resolve complex technical issues.

Requirements

3+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer with a strong focus on Python and Django.
Proven experience with Django REST Framework for API development.
Solid understanding and practical experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, ECS, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, etc.).
Experience with setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines.
Proficiency in SQL databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
Experience with Docker and containerization.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of projects.
Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).

Nice to Have

Experience with TypeScript for backend development (e.g., AWS Lambda functions).
Knowledge of GraphQL.
Experience with other cloud providers (GCP, Azure).
