As a Backend Engineer on Phantom's Blockchain Data team, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and optimizing their streaming blockchain data platform. Your work will ensure high-quality, scalable ingestion, transformation, and delivery of critical on-chain data, empowering other product engineering teams.

Responsibilities

ETL & Data Pipeline Design: Develop, maintain, and optimize scalable ETL pipelines using a modern data stack. This includes sourcing, transforming, and integrating data from on-chain sources.
Data Quality & Observability: Lead initiatives to implement data quality frameworks and observability solutions to guarantee data accuracy, freshness, and reliability across all pipelines.
Architect for Scalability & Performance: Build systems capable of handling millions of requests daily, prioritizing high availability, low latency, and strong fault tolerance to serve engineering teams' data access needs.
Data Modeling & Schema Design: Design and maintain efficient data models and schemas to support Phantom's data efforts.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable backend platform solutions.
Team Building: Contribute to fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the team with every new hire.

Requirements

5+ years of backend engineering experience, demonstrating success in building large-scale, high-availability systems.
Extensive experience building and optimizing modern ETL pipelines and data engineering solutions in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
Proficiency with languages and frameworks in their stack, such as Go, Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, Kafka, Redis, and PostgreSQL.
Proven experience implementing data quality frameworks, observability, and monitoring solutions.
Familiarity with Web3/Crypto concepts, including on-chain data, wallet integrations, or decentralized application patterns.
Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a lean team structure.
