Introduction

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an Associate Engagement Manager to join our Professional Services (ProServe) team, specifically within the Associate to Consultant (A2) Delivery program. This role focuses on accelerating the career development of university graduates and early career professionals. You will collaborate with AWS consultants, partners, and client teams to manage the delivery of AWS cloud products and services, helping customers achieve their business objectives. These professional services engagements leverage the full AWS platform to assist customers and partners in their journey to the cloud.

Responsibilities

Expertise

• Collaborate with AWS technical, operational, and customer-facing teams to ensure engagement health metrics are met and project milestones are achieved.
• Apply formal project management and reporting methodologies.
• Utilize knowledge of project management best practices pragmatically across engagements.
• Understand technology principles and services including infrastructure, business applications, data management, security, application platforms, and consumer-facing technology.

Solutions

• Lead individuals, teams, or multiple groups in analyzing project goals, creating plans, and driving AWS teams, customer stakeholders (SMEs), and potentially third parties to achieve goals.
• Continuously seek to improve process efficiencies and effectiveness.
• Apply strategic thinking and demonstrate understanding of requirements for execution.
• Make decisions guided by policies, procedures, and business plans with limited guidance.
• Develop business cases and possess strong business and financial acumen.

Delivery

• Plan, organize, and manage all phases of a project life-cycle for successful delivery.
• Develop and manage project governance plans, schedules, team goals, success criteria, milestones, and budgets.
• Actively manage issues, risks, decisions, and action items to achieve customer business outcomes.
• Take ownership, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
• Challenge, recommend, redirect teams, and manage client expectations during engagements.
• Proactively ensure teams meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
• Prioritize work, plan, and stay organized to meet commitments.

Communication

• Interface with various customers and internal AWS stakeholders (Sr. Engagement Managers, Practice Managers, SMEs).
• Plan and oversee the preparation and dissemination of engagement financials and health status.
• Present, communicate (oral & written), and build relationships across team members.

Teaming

• Proven success in working with teams and management.
• Integrate, motivate, and build relationships with cross-functional team members (local or remote), sponsors, key stakeholders, executives, and other involved parties.
• Work effectively in a matrix environment, managing multiple stakeholders.
• Utilize negotiation and conflict resolution capabilities.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain/maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
• Experience leveraging formal project management and reporting methodologies.
• Knowledge of project management best practices.
• Understanding of technology principles and services, including infrastructure, business applications, data management, security, and application platforms.
• Ability to lead and drive project goals and teams.
• Strong business and financial acumen, with experience in business case development.
• Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage project life-cycles.
• Experience in managing project governance, schedules, team goals, criteria, milestones, and budgets.
• Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
• Proven success in teamwork, cross-functional collaboration, and stakeholder management.
• Travel: Up to 75% for customer engagements, both locally and internationally.
