About the Position

Introduction

Mollie is seeking an Application Engineer II to join their Customer Application Team, focusing on Connect products. In this role, you will be a primary point of contact for external partners integrating with Mollie's API, guiding and building the Mollie Connect suite of products and services to ensure partner success.

Responsibilities

Become an expert in how customers achieve value using Mollie products, with a special focus on the Connect suite.
Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Design, and other teams to understand how to leverage Mollie's existing APIs and services to solve customer problems; act as a customer proxy to influence roadmaps and improve existing solutions.
Partner with third-party integrators (platform partners) in adopting and optimizing their integration with Mollie products, especially Connect API capabilities.
Help shape the future of Connect products and services by researching potential partners, identifying areas for process improvements, and creating new solutions—including documentation and API references.
Contribute to the technical integration with partners (e.g., identify opportunities for efficiency, improve overall quality of API calls and integrations).
Provide proactive and reactive technical guidance on the best Mollie solution for integrators and their use cases, anticipating potential issues and offering solutions.
Leverage expertise in payments to help educate stakeholders internally and externally, and provide support for platform partners.

Requirements

Minimum of 3+ years of experience as an Application Engineer, Solution Engineer, Sales Engineer, Technical Account Manager, or similar customer-facing role in the FinTech or SaaS industry.
Strong working knowledge of API management, payment flows, and processing.
Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to navigate ambiguity and bring clarity to complex technical and business challenges.
Curiosity and humility; a genuine desire to understand how things work at a low level and to improve upon the status quo.
Ability to understand, diagnose, and explain technical issues via written and verbal communication.
Experience interacting directly with external partners and successfully driving technical conversations.
Fluency in English (company language).

Nice to Have

Experience with SQL, relational databases, and data analysis.
Exposure to backend technologies (e.g., Python, Golang, Java, PHP).
Familiarity with OpenAPI specification frameworks (e.g., Swagger).
Experience with e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, Wix).
