AI Developer Experience Engineer

Introduction

Polygon Labs, a leader in global blockchain payments, is seeking an AI Developer Experience Engineer to join its AI Foundation team. As the second member of this pivotal team, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and deploying AI tooling and infrastructure that significantly boosts productivity and AI adoption across the entire organization. This role offers the unique opportunity to own meaningful systems from day one, impacting engineering, product, marketing, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Design and build an organization-wide AI tooling onboarding system that auto-configures and recommends appropriate tools, workflows, and skill paths based on individual roles.
• Develop and maintain the infrastructure supporting automatic deployment and configuration of AI tooling, ensuring reliability, resilience, and telemetry coverage.
• Build custom internal applications and harnesses around AI agents and tooling, integrating systems across engineering and cross-functional teams.
• Implement and maintain an AI usage dashboard providing leadership and teams visibility into adoption, productivity metrics, and tooling health.
• Evaluate, integrate, and configure third-party AI tools (e.g., coding assistants, LLM orchestration frameworks, agent platforms) to meet organizational needs.
• Utilize advanced AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.) to produce high-quality, maintainable code efficiently, and proactively set the standard for their use within the engineering team.
• Communicate clearly and consistently in an async-first remote environment, keeping stakeholders informed of project status, blockers, and decisions.

Requirements

• Demonstrated engineering experience shipping real-world software and architecting maintainable systems.
• Hands-on experience with AI agents and LLM-based systems, including building harnesses, integrations, or tooling on top of agent frameworks or LLM SDKs (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex).
• Proven ability to integrate AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or equivalents) into daily development workflows as a core tool.
• Strong fundamentals in software engineering, capable of working across various languages and stacks (e.g., Python, TypeScript).
• Self-directed execution with the ability to take project briefs, ask clarifying questions, and drive to delivery with proactive communication.
• Genuine curiosity and a strong drive to stay current with the rapidly evolving AI tooling landscape.

Nice to Have

• Experience building telemetry, observability, or monitoring into AI-powered systems for resilience and measurable performance.
• Familiarity with crypto or blockchain infrastructure environments, or experience in a fast-moving technology company with a frequently changing tooling landscape.
• Prior experience in a developer experience, platform engineering, or internal tooling role, especially one focused on building for other engineers.
